Encouragement: Being Mindful
Today we are talking about being mindful when giving encouragement. Although we want to make ourselves available to others, we must be thoughtful in what we do and say.
We want to be instant in season and out of season with encouragement. Let's look at II Timothy 4:2! Usually, the idea regarding preaching this passage is to focus on rebuking someone. Let's travel to the latter part of that scripture, where it tells us to exhort. Here we see that exhortation means to encourage greatly. As encouragers, we want to set an excellent example for those around us. Regardless of the situation, we can step in and make a difference for someone else. We can do this by simply helping others. We can act quickly on what Holy Spirit gives us to do or say by being open to opportunities to assist.
Exhort means to encourage greatly!
Holy Spirit may give us other information or he may provide us with instructions to share a testimony. In those cases, we want to be mindful of what we share, and how much of it we share. Also, let us make sure this is the correct time to share. Always gauge your words through Holy Spirit.
Questions for reflection:
- Have you shared a testimony, and it went terribly wrong?
- When you give encouragement, is it half-hearted?
- Are you instant and available to be used by the Holy Spirit?
